Snowy Hydro Limited are an energy business backed by the Snowy Mountains Scheme. Their retail companies are Red Energy and Lumo Energy.

At Snowy Hydro, their focus is on supporting and investing in local communities where their staff live and work. They focus on activities that have a wide reach, are accessible and benefit the people of the Snowy Mountains region. Across Snowy Hydro, Red Energy and Lumo Energy, more than $2 million is invested each year in local communities and sponsorships. The company’s relationship with the local communities is core to their Community Partnerships Program. The foundation of the Snowy Hydro Community Partnerships Program is: promotion of health and safety, education, cancer research and support, respect for heritage and community events and projects.

The Snowy Hydro SouthCare Rescue Helicopter service operates throughout the south-east area of NSW and ACT, providing aero medical, search and rescue services. Two years ago, Snowy Hydro and the Cooma Monaro Shire Council joined forces to create the Cooma Universities Centre (CUC) to provide university education opportunities for local students. The Snowy Hydro Young Driver Training Program offers L and P plate drivers at participating stakeholder high schools the opportunity to gain experience in driving, focusing on driver attitudes and behaviours rather than just passing a test.

Snowy Hydro is a major sponsor of the annual “Snowy Ride”, a major event in the local area that raises funds for the Steven Walter Foundation and Childhood Cancer Research each November. Snowy Hydro also actively supports the major event or activity in each of its regional centres. These events showcase regional communities and provide significant benefit to local economies. In addition to their key partnerships, Snowy Hydro also supports around 30 other community activities and events.
