RubySketch – PlusSpec

RubySketch – PlusSpec has been recognised as an ABA100® Winner for Tech Innovation in The Australian Business Awards 2016. The Australian Business Award for Tech Innovation recognises leading products and services that provide innovative technological solutions for new and existing market needs.

Established in 2010, RubySketch is an Australian owned and operated start-up that focuses on connecting design professionals, the construction industry and building product manufacturers. They have created PlusSpec, a software platform that combines 3D CAD, building information modelling, virtual design and construction, estimating, real product integration and integrated project delivery.

RubySketch created PureSpec with the belief that CAD modelling was only allowing users to implement 3D modelling as a way to create 2D plans. In contrast, PureSpec was designed to make design faster and simpler, with a core ethos of using communication as a catalyst for improved efficiency and reduced waste. PlusSpec works towards the maximisation of 3D virtual design and construction models by adopting a shared, comprehensive 3D model. This facilitates improved understanding among all main project stakeholders, eliminating deciphering or interpretation from planning.

PlusSpec aims to strike the perfect balance between design and construction by offering a user-friendly, intuitive software that allows users to design whilst being able to simultaneously visualize and develop construction methodology. By using real products from real manufacturers and allowing users to create their own, the software understands client intent, accounts for variables such as weight and strength and reduces physical waste. This approach is designed to deliver real cost savings to users, falling in line with RubySketch’s belief that 2D plans are quickly becoming antiquated by adopting a committed 3D solution.
