TechnologyOne has a comprehensive suite of enterprise software. TechnologyOne has supported a range of charities and community organisations, particularly those with a focus on youth and poverty since its founding in 1987. TechnologyOne has set an agenda for change and has established a philanthropic leadership approach that focuses on proactively addressing systemic, root causes of global poverty.  The TechnologyOne Foundation establishes charitable giving as a long-term initiative, and defines who TechnologyOne is as a company. It reflects the values, culture and aspirations it seeks to attract in future employees. Representing a multi-million dollar annual commitment, the TechnologyOne Foundation makes a difference to underprivileged and at-risk youth in its communities, by empowering youth to transform their lives and create their own pathways of success. In addition to providing financial assistance to charity partners, TechnologyOne has also cultivated a strong philanthropic culture of providing time and assistance inside and outside working hours to contribute to the Foundation’s initiatives.

TechnologyOne takes its responsibilities as a good corporate citizen seriously. As a large successful company, TechnologyOne believes it is important to give back to the community, leading the company to establish the TechnologyOne Foundation in 2016. As part of this initiative, TechnologyOne offers all team members 1% time, which offers up to 2.5 days leave per year to volunteer during work hours for registered charitable organisations. The 1% product component involves a donation of 1% of licence fee revenue each year. The 1% profit component commits TechnologyOne to donating 1% of annual profit to its charity partners. The TechnologyOne Foundation establishes charitable giving as a long-term initiative for the company, and represents a multi-million dollar annual commitment. The Foundation partners with a range of charities and community organisations domestically and overseas – particularly those with a focus on empowering youth to transform their lives and to create their own pathways of success. Last year the Foundation made direct financial contributions to its charity partners totalling more than $620,000. This was their largest ever donation and TechnologyOne team members contributed to almost 500 business days of volunteer time. Through the TechnologyOne Foundation’s partnership with Opportunity International Australia (Opportunity), it has set an ambitious goal to help lift 500,000 children out of poverty in 15 years. The partnership will provide small loans to enable families in India to grow businesses, earn regular incomes and create safety nets for the future. As 98% of Opportunity’s small loans are recycled, the impact creates a ripple effect within families and their communities.

TechnologyOne underwent six months of research with Australian and international companies to understand their processes and learnings. Throughout these processes, the research focused on technology companies that had established organised philanthropic programs.The Foundation’s charity partners were selected based on their alignment with TechnologyOne’s objective of empowering underprivileged and at-risk youth. From there, the company focused on creating partnerships that delivered mutual benefits. Its objective was to foster partnerships that delivered a sustainable and measurable impact. The company was also determined to embed and put the Foundation in the fabric of everything it did. Initial implementation of the TechnologyOne Foundation initiatives began with an annual plan, detailing a phased approach. This plan involved a multifaceted campaign for each charity partner, with activities to drive awareness and fundraising. The annual plan includes a year-long focus on providing charity partner programs and volunteering, concluding in a company-wide fundraising drive.

Many factors have contributed to the success of the TechnologyOne Foundation. This included the high level of engagement from the executive team and leadership; particularly from the company’s Executive Chairman and Founder, which raises the profile of the Foundation across the business. Dedicated funds and budget allocated to the Foundation and its initiatives, clearly outlined the charitable targets and a budget for funding. TechnologyOne’s  committee approach ensured cross-departmental engagement along with dedicated resourcing, to drive strategy and execution. Inspiring and enabling TechnologyOne employees to get behind the Foundation and make a difference was also a large contributor to the overall success of the Foundation.
