GenesisCare was founded by Dan Collins in 2005 from a single cardiology clinic. Today, more than a decade on, GenesisCare is now the largest provider of cancer care in Australia, the UK and Spain, and the leading provider of cardiovascular and sleep treatment throughout Australia. From this solid base, GenesisCare has plans to expand its presence in Asia and the U.S.A. Key to this is the recent acquisition of 21st Century Oncology, the largest private provider of radiation oncology services in the U.S.A.
GenesisCare provide radiation therapy for more people in Australia, the UK and Spain than any other care provider. Across their global network, they carry out more than 350,000 radiation therapy treatments every year. GenesisCare treat everyone that is referred to them, regardless of their financial position.
GenesisCare provide a comprehensive cardiology service that includes consultation, cardiac testing and invasive procedures. They respond rapidly to patient needs with access to multiple sites for services, fast turnaround of reports and priority service for urgent patients. All practices utilise modern cardiovascular equipment, technology and techniques to ensure diagnostic accuracy is maximised.
GenesisCare’s comprehensive sleep services encompass sleep physician consulting, sleep investigations (both in-hospital and at home sleep testing) and a full range of treatment options to help identify and manage a range of sleep conditions.

To do this, there is a need to continue to develop capability across the business and to ‘raise the bar’ on what great looks like.
After a detailed review of current initiatives, GenesisCare’s Talent & Culture team developed a refreshed approach to talent development which has been implemented progressively from early FY19. One of the first major initiatives was a new ‘flagship’ development program for people leaders – the Grow program. This is a 6-month program focused on developing clarity of a leader’s role, connection to purpose and values and capability building to support GenesisCare strategy and the patient experience. The program is executed in partnership with Harbour Future Leaders (HFL) who support in design, facilitation and coaching (with internal counterparts who also deliver the program).
In order to be successful, healthcare organisations are increasingly investing in leadership and talent initiatives. The Grow program represents a key enabler of GenesisCare’s talent strategy. Central to this strategy is the ability to ensure GenesisCare has the right talent in critical roles and to support the growth and development of its leaders. For six months following the intensive workshop, participants engage in several post-workshop components including coaching sessions, an action plan feedback session, follow up virtual workshop and manager touch points. The Grow program embeds capability by providing ongoing experiential leadership opportunities and reflection through feedback.
