We are very pleased to be recognised as the 2023 Eco Innovator Award winner for our TUF-R USB charging modules. TUF-R provides the opportunity for our customers to incorporate eco-friendly solutions into their commercial space designs.

TUF USB charging modules have been in development for a few years now, with the latest designs (TUF-R) incorporating both advanced technologies, robust design, and eco-friendly features.
The challenge was to combine two technologies, (a mains socket outlet and a USB charger) which have completely different lifespans and technologies. Mains sockets have remained the same for over 50 years however USB chargers evolve every 1-2 years. To address the differences the TUF-R replaceable “module” was born, where just the USB charger could be easily changed out as technology developed.
Designed for the future to be replaceable by anyone, TUF-R gives control to facilities managers, who can upgrade or replace a module using a simple tool.

- There is no need to turn off the power.
- There is no need to replace the whole product.
Replacing a TUF-R USB module and not the whole product saves time and resources and reduces unnecessary waste.

Commercial spaces need power for end-user laptops and mobile phones. This power is almost always provided as a combination of AC power sockets and USB charging ports, which until now came as a single moulded product. AC power sockets are a ‘50-year technology’ with very little evolution; however, USB charging technology changes every few years as end users upgrade their laptops and mobile phones. The challenge was given to the OE Elsafe’s Research and Development team, who designed a commercial-grade solution that addressed the different life expectancies of AC sockets and USB charging ports.
OE Elsafe developed the TUF-R, a compact yet powerful, field-replaceable USB A+C laptop and mobile fast charging module. TUF-R modules come in two profiles and are designed to fit most OE Elsafe products to provide device charging in the commercial space. TUF-R modules can be integrated into OE Elsafe desktop power rails, table boxes, commercial furniture, and panel mounted. The TUF-R USB charging module offers an eco-friendly option with unique features that aim to reduce waste. The design features that make this possible are the Modular Product Design, TUF-R, Replacable and Reversible Type A Port. Replacing just the TUF-R USB charging module and not the whole product extends the life of the product TUF-R is fitted to. Therefore, the TUFF-R is designed to save time and resources and reduce waste.
