Ausdecom

Ausdecom has been selected as an ABA100® Winner for Risk Management in The Australian Business Awards 2024. The Australian Business Award for Risk Management [RMA] recognises organisations that have successfully implemented initiatives that demonstrate excellence in risk management.

Ausdecom is one of Australia’s leading providers of Decommissioning, Demolition, Environmental Remediation, Waste Management and Recycling Services. With their head office based in Laverton, North Victoria, they self-deliver large-scale projects throughout Australia.

Ausdecom has over 100 full-time employees, places its people at the heart of what they do. Ausdecom focus on attracting local high-quality employees, providing training and continuous development to keep their people at the forefront of the industry.

Established in 2013 by Sam McKellar and his father, Jamie, the McKellar Family has a long history in the Demolition and Recycling Industry, spanning four generations. Ausdecom remains true to these origins and core values by putting safety first, focusing on its people and striving for sustainable and efficient outcomes. They have a strong reputation for being innovators, delivering projects safely, on time and in a cost-effective manner.

Environmentally sustainable business practices are a fundamental part of Ausdecom, with Jamie McKellar, an industry pioneer, opening the first concrete recycling plant in Australia. The concrete recycling plant turns construction and demolition waste into aggregates and road-based materials. Ausdecom continues with this practice today, as their business is based on the principle of reusing, re-directing, or recycling as much of the materials they extract from their projects as possible. They have also opened their gates to other businesses to bring their construction and demolition waste to them, diverting it from landfills.

Over the years, Ausdecom’s Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Management system had become obsolete; it was difficult to use, manage and maintain as the workforce increased and the business expanded interstate. A new system needed to be introduced that could automate manual processes so that paperwork would be a thing of the past, saving their teams valuable time and creating an impeccable level of safety for all personnel involved. Ausdecom decided to introduce a system called Noggin that they could tailor to meet specific and unique needs across the business.

Ausdecom has seen several positive outcomes from the online Occupational Health and Safety Management System since it has been implemented and integrated across the organisation; they include but are not limited to improved safety, legal compliance, enhanced reporting & improved communication.
