HOBAN Recruitment
HOBAN Recruitment has been selected as an ABA100® Winner for Training Excellence in The Australian Business Awards 2023. The Australian Business Award for Training Excellence [TRX] recognises organisations that have successfully implemented initiatives that demonstrate leadership and commitment to education and training.
Established in 1965, HOBAN provides permanent recruitment and temporary workforce services. HOBAN is owned by OSI, one of Japan’s most prominent providers of employment services. HOBAN’s client base exceeds more than 690 private and public sector clients across a range of industries. Commencing 54 years ago with one office in Melbourne, today, HOBAN has a network of 12 offices around Australia, and they fill over 30,000 positions per annum to support the growth of leading organisations by providing them with top talent.
HOBAN identified that multiple clients in Sydney’s growing warehousing and logistics industry would benefit from the introduction of a tailored training and talent strategy. However, many of their clients did not have the capacity and resources to provide training and upskilling on-site. HOBAN, therefore, developed their own hub for providing training and upskilling opportunities for its candidates – The HOBAN Distribution and Development Centre.
The HOBAN Distribution Development Centre (HDDC) is an offsite location with manufacturing and warehousing simulations established and a boardroom and office training space. Having the HDDC in place gives HOBAN the edge in candidate assessment, training and development and provides a source of skilled workers to the local area. HOBAN’s Distribution Development Centre (DDC) aimed to develop proficient high-reach forklift drivers to meet market requirements. The busy distribution and supply chain community in Western Sydney sees demand for skilled forklift operators all year round, with peaks increasing, especially in the latter half of the year in the lead-up to Christmas. Consequently, there is significant demand for top talent, with all DCs competing to recruit skilled personnel from an insufficient, reduced talent pool.
The HOBAN DDC has helped to create a pool of skilled forklift drivers to fill the gap and meet market demands. Due to the success of the DDC, HOBAN is in the process of opening another one in Victoria.
