Toowoomba Dental
Toowoomba Dental has been selected as an ABA100® Winner for Marketing Excellence in The Australian Business Awards 2025. The Australian Business Award for Marketing Excellence [MXA] recognises organisations that have successfully implemented initiatives that demonstrate excellence in marketing.
Toowoomba Dental is a locally owned, family-run dental practice in Toowoomba, Queensland, led by Dr Michael Baker and managed by Chelsea Baker. Combining clinical expertise with a strong focus on design and education, the practice has reimagined the way families experience dentistry.
Little Blossom Resources is Toowoomba Dental’s Marketing Excellence initiative, developed to address a clear gap in locally available, engaging dental education for children and parents. The program provides a suite of customised resources designed to make dental visits a positive and empowering experience. These tools are both clinically accurate and visually appealing, helping families prepare for visits, reduce dental anxiety, and build lasting oral health habits at home.
The resources include a customised Kids Oral Health Guide brochure, colouring in activities, find-a-word, spot the difference, draw your portrait activities, dental ‘crown’ colouring and making, a “Visiting Our Dental Practice” photo storybook, age-appropriate brushing charts, courage certificates, custom sticker packs and stamps, and a sensory-friendly weighted butterfly for anxious patients. Materials were designed in-house to reflect the practice’s family-friendly floral branding, reviewed for clinical accuracy, and distributed both in-clinic and through community channels such as local schools, early learning centres, and health events. The rollout was methodical and collaborative. Resources were piloted in the clinic and in selected schools, refined based on feedback from parents, children, and teachers, then launched publicly with digital downloads, printed packs, and social media promotion. Staff were trained to integrate the tools into everyday patient care.
The initiative has had measurable reach. To date, Toowoomba Dental has distributed over 800 brushing charts. Feedback from parents shows improved home brushing routines, reduced anxiety about dental visits, and greater willingness among children to engage in their own oral health care. Teachers have reported an increase in curiosity and discussion about oral health in classrooms.
Beyond numbers, Little Blossom Resources has strengthened trust between the practice and the community, built partnerships with educators, and positioned Toowoomba Dental as a leader in family-focused dentistry in the region. By providing high-quality, free, and accessible tools, the practice has extended its impact beyond its patient base, contributing to better oral health outcomes for children across Toowoomba. This initiative demonstrates how innovative, well-designed marketing resources can deliver genuine health benefits, enhance the patient experience, and build a stronger connection between a dental practice and its community.
