Acciona Infrastructure Projects Australia
Acciona Infrastructure Projects Australia has been selected as an ABA100® Winner for Training Excellence in The Australian Business Awards 2022. The Australian Business Award for Training Excellence [TRX] recognises organisations that have successfully implemented initiatives that demonstrate leadership and commitment to education and training.
“ACCIONA is honoured to receive an Australian Business Award for Training Excellence for upskilling Queenslanders on our Bruce Highway Upgrade: Caboolture-Bribie Island Road to Steve Irwin Way project.”
“One of the key project deliverables was to develop the industry’s skills base and future workforce capability by creating employment and training opportunities for apprentices, First Nations people and through upskilling existing workers. To be recognised for that is humbling and a great credit to the project team.
“One of ACCIONA’s key fundamentals is innovation, so to be recognised as one of Australia’s business, innovation and technology leaders is wonderful.”
ACCIONA’s project team for the Bruce Highway Upgrade: Caboolture-Bribie Island Road to Steve Irwin Way (Exit 163) project in Queensland has embraced the requirements of the government’s Queensland Building and Construction Training Policy and Indigenous Employment and Supplier-use Infrastructure Framework, delivering exceptional training outcomes for apprentices, trainees, Indigenous Australians, and existing workers.
Through a well thought out and finely executed training action plan, which looked holistically at both the project and broader industry’s training needs, the team has achieved outstanding results, including:
- >100% achievement of new entrant trainee and apprentice training hours
- >200% achievement of other workforce training hours
- >400% achievement of Indigenous participation hours.
ACCIONA’s forward-thinking approach to developing the industry’s skills base and future workforce capability has created employment and training opportunities for more than 250 workers in the Queensland construction industry, including 67 new entrant trainees and apprentices; 167 existing workers; and 16 Indigenous Australians.
