Village Roadshow Theme Parks

Village Roadshow Theme Parks has been selected as an ABA100® Winner for Training Excellence in The Australian Business Awards 2024. The Australian Business Award for Training Excellence [TRX] recognises organisations that have successfully implemented initiatives that demonstrate leadership and commitment to education and training.

Village Roadshow Theme Parks (VRTP) stands as a beacon of immersive entertainment in the leisure and tourism industry on the Gold Coast. As Australia’s largest park operator, VRTP is committed to creating cutting-edge attractions, family-friendly adventures, and world-class experiences across its eight properties, including Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World, and Wet’n’Wild.

In response to challenges faced with the previous Learning Management System (LMS), VRTP introduced a bespoke system on the Docebo platform, which has been branded V Learning, a strategic initiative designed for safety, compliance, and self-directed learning. The system addresses training gaps and accessibility issues and enhances user engagement, aiming to streamline the training process across diverse departments crucial for guest safety and experience.

The significance of V Learning is twofold. Firstly, it aligns with State and Federal Government standards, ensuring a robust safety and compliance framework, thereby positioning VRTP as Australia’s safest tourism operator. Secondly, V Learning promotes a culture of excellence through role-specific training, fostering continuous team growth and creating a transformative step towards a safer, more sustainable, and highly efficient operation model.

The partnership with Docebo was a strategic move, providing a powerful LMS platform that supports VRTP’s future goals. The collaboration involved extensive planning and development to meet the unique business models of VRTP in Queensland and Village Entertainment (VE), ensuring alignment with the HR SAP system, a new singlesign-on platform, and future integration with UKG Workforce Planning system.

The V Learning App, designed for the modern workforce, incorporates the Single Sign-On Plaorm Okta, offering accessibility and engagement with our employees. The V Learning brand, developed in collaboration with VRTP Art Studio, ensures internal recognition and visual appeal.

Change management was crucial for a smooth transition, involving onboarding processes, course development, testing, and communication at all business levels. The rollout in August 2023 was a collective effort, engaging all levels and business units simultaneously to ensure clarity and trust among team members.

Post-launch, V Learning has proven its effectiveness, surpassing expectations with over 99% completion in main compliance courses, and delivering a significant reduction in incomplete courses compared to the previous platform. The platform’s reporting capabilities empower managers to track team progress and ensure compliance, contributing to a safer working environment and economic benefits for the company.

V Learning’s success extends beyond compliance, with increased satisfaction, positive reviews, and social engagement from the team. The platform’s indirect benefits include free learning opportunities, self-directed courses, and professional development options, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within VRTP.

Direct benefits include a user-friendly interface, effective tracking capabilities, and future proofing through reducing paper usage. V Learning has become an essential tool in VRTP’s journey to becoming the Employer of Choice, aligning with its purpose of creating joyous memories for guests and team members alike. The platform reflects VRTP’s commitment to safety, growth, and innovation in the ever-evolving theme park industry.
