Tata Consultancy Services

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has been selected as an ABA100® Winner for Training Excellence in The Australian Business Awards 2025. The Australian Business Award for Training Excellence [TRX] recognises organisations that have successfully implemented initiatives that demonstrate leadership and commitment to education and training.

As a leading global IT services, consulting and business solutions technology provider, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has been partnering with many of the world’s largest businesses in their transformation journeys for over 50 years and Australia’s leading organisations for more than 30 years.

TCS offers a consulting-led, cognitive-powered, integrated portfolio of business, technology and engineering services and solutions. This is delivered through its unique Location Independent Agile™ delivery model, recognised as a benchmark of excellence in software development.

TCS supports some of the largest healthcare, telecoms, airlines, retail, utilities, energy, and resources companies, runs technology for governments and public services organisations, and many more. The organisation’s domain expertise has been built upon decades of experience working across these industries, and this knowledge underpins TCS’s suite of products and solutions.

The ever-changing technology landscape has made it imperative for TCS to be ahead of the curve and foresee the future needs in upskilling its employees to ensure they are well poised to transform into purpose-led business partners to the customers. This requires employees to be skilled in technology, business, domain, process, and leadership skills. To address this requirement, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has envisioned a unique program – Elevate Wings (Wings), which provides a career progression path for employees, upskilling them from early career talent to Specialists and then to Growth & Transformation (G&T) Leaders. It is one of the several flagship programs that TCS has introduced to promote its vision of constant employee learning and career enablement.

Elevate Wings is an extension of TCS’s robust learning and development strategy, a point of differentiation among organisations seeking to attract top talent and retain their workforce. The program was initiated to address the following areas:

  1. To introduce a ‘guided learning program’ post the initial freshers training program.
  2. Need for Mid-Level Talent to perform ‘Specialist’ roles with futuristic skills.
  3. Need for building G&T leaders to drive engagements and initiatives.
  4. Need for creating an organisation that strives for ‘continuous learning.’

The Wings program is designed to offer a platform that will accelerate all the employees’ careers and empower them to realise their aspirational roles and job areas.

Matching talent to the right opportunities isn’t just about acknowledging skills from the past but about understanding the aspirations for the future. Wings, bridges that bridge the gap and help employees with skills of the future. The central idea is to connect them with the right opportunity and align business priorities.

Elevate Wings, the strategic initiative officially launched by the organisation’s CHRO, is a merit-based, democratised, transparent talent framework designed to establish a strong link between learning and career. It is a framework that encompasses learning and performance, along with other performance-related dimensions, based on employees’ experience.

Wings1 is a program that caters to the needs of early-career talent, providing them with an introduction to multiple full-stack paths based on futuristic industry needs. It allows employees to explore different technology tracks, along with business skills, processes, and articulation, enabling them to become fully rounded professionals.

Once employees have gained an experience range of 4 to 5 years, they can enrol in the Wings2 program. As part of this program, employees can select their career progression path based on their aspirations. Employees can enrol in 480+ roles and specialisations based on the ‘Next Learning Journey,’ which is curated into various streams in technology, delivery, domain, leadership, and sales. They can subscribe to a learning path and start their journey based on their aspiration.

Within the 3rd year of its launch, TCS have already achieved 53% participation, and they envisage this number to reach 75% by the end of next year.

Wings 1 & 2 have impacted the following:
