Humanitix began in late 2015 when two best friends, Joshua Ross & Adam McCurdie, made a pact to team up to build a technology social enterprise which could change the world at scale. Josh & Adam analysed how charities operate, and saw how they struggled with scale, so rather than investing their time raising millions of dollars for a cause, they decided the best way forward was disrupting a massive industry to shift billions of dollars toward massive impact, using the power of technology.
Thus Humanitix was formed – a first-of-its-kind ticketing platform that is also a registered charity. It helps event organisers run events through its online ticketing software and events marketplace, while redirecting 100% of the booking fee profits to world-changing education programs. Humanitix demonstrates how the power of technology can be harnessed for good in a meaningful, impactful way. Social impact is weaved into its platform, with all booking fee profits funding education projects every time a ticket is sold on Humanitix. This allows both event organisers and event goers to participate in charitable actions through small day-to-day transactions. To date Humanitix has donated over $500,000 to its charity partners. Funding for these education projects are vital, as education is at the root of many social issues in the world including inequality and poverty. Rather than treating the symptoms of the problem, Humanitix has decided to focus on addressing the cause in order to break the cycle of poverty and make positive changes to people’s lives that carry on through multiple generations. Humanitix provides a win-win-win situation for all its stakeholders, which is part of why it has been so successful to date.
