The Australian Charity Award for Outstanding Achievement [OAA] recognises charitable organisations that have achieved outstanding results through initiatives that have significantly benefited charitable causes.

We are honoured to be recognised as a winner for Outstanding Achievement in the Australian Charity Awards.

At CareFlight, we pride ourselves on constantly striving to improve emergency pre-hospital care and to deliver better patient outcomes. This recognition is a testament to the entire team’s dedication.

Importantly, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the thousands of generous donors, the Profields Foundation and our naming rights sponsor Mounties Care, who made it all possible.

Mick Frewen, CareFlight CEO

CareFlight is an Australian charity with the mission to save lives, speed recovery, and serve the community. The charity founded Australia’s first civilian medical helicopter service in 1986, launching the service from Westmead, Sydney. Since then, the not-for-profit organisation has built a reputation for quickly and safely flying to the rescue of thousands of patients and for its dedication to continuously improving the care of all Australians by advancing the aeromedical field.

Today CareFlight operates helicopters, turbo-prop aeroplanes, jets and road vehicles to reach and treat patients wherever they are, caring for thousands of patients annually.

Recently, CareFlight undertook an ambitious project to revolutionise the Sydney-based Rapid Response Helicopter Service by replacing the existing helicopter with one of the most advanced aeromedical helicopters in the world.

Every minute matters when it comes to providing a critical care response to those in need. CareFlight recognised that new technological advances in aviation meant it would be possible to get critical pre-hospital care to patients even sooner and more safely than ever before – ultimately, to save more lives.

As a charity, CareFlight – as it has done for more than 36 years – set about working with community, corporate and government supporters to invest in developing a higher level of service to improve patient care and outcomes. The initiative’s timing coincided with a global pandemic, making a huge undertaking yet more challenging.

This exemplary new aeromedical capability will continue to provide essential and lifesaving care, now and in the future. This is thanks to the tireless efforts of CareFlight’s staff, partners, and the wider community that supports the organisation.
